There were quite a few new additions at New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp, but one of the most notable was wide receivers coach Keith Williams introducing the rugby ball into the fray.

By Ross Jackson - Saints News Network | SI

There was a different feel as media looked on at the New Orleans Saints' second rookie minicamp practice. The tempo felt like it was up, the intensity was palpable and the constant vocal presence of coaches rang through the warm air on both fields. One of the coaches that commanded the most attention was the team’s newly appointed wide receivers coach Keith Williams.

Williams was active, boisterous and struck a necessary balance between delivering strict directives while celebrating the accomplishments of the wideouts along the way. But another way that he stood out was with the inclusion of a new tool as the receivers were running some early catching drills: rugby balls.

The use of rugby balls (also known as “footies”) is not new for NFL teams. Williams has used this practice with the Baltimore Ravens for multiple years as has New York Giants wide receivers coach Mike Groh. Notable players like Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill have also been connected to the practice as both have trained with Williams in the past. ...

NEW ORLEANS — With the National Football League releasing the complete 2024 schedule on Wednesday, CBS Sports published how the strength of schedule rankings break down for all 32 teams heading into the 2024 season.

For the second straight year, the New Orleans Saints find themselves facing one of the NFL's softest schedules – this year tied for the easiest with NFC South rival the Atlanta Falcons.

Opponents for both teams compiled a 131-158 record with a .453 winning percentage.

Last year, the Saints (9-8) trailed only the Falcons (7-10) in ease of schedule.

Despite possessing the...

The New Orleans Saints have a million combinations to choose from while crafting their 2024 starting offensive line.

Although the OL has gained depth over the past few months, the only clear starting addition is rookie Taliese Fuaga. Creating a starting lineup may be challenging for new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and offensive line coach John Benton.

You might notice that every left guard option reads “Udoh/Saldiveri/Patrick/Lemieux.” That’s simply because no one has a clue which of these players will get the starting gig. None of them have been consistently healthy and starting...

Here’s some big New Orleans Saints news. Nola.com’s Jeff Duncan reports that the Saints will open their 2024 preseason with an exhibition game against the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. They’ll have joint practices with the San Francisco 49ers before traveling to Santa Clara’s Levi Stadium for their second preseason game.

It’s easy to get excited about the prospect of seeing star talents like Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and wideout Marvin Harrison Jr., this year’s fourth overall draft pick, but we should remember that it’s preseason. Both teams may not play...

Saints tied for the easiest strength of schedule again in 2024

Dennis Allen and Derek Carr couldn’t take advantage of the NFL’s easiest schedule last year, but they’re getting another shot in 2024. The New Orleans Saints are tied with the Atlanta Falcons for the easiest strength of schedule this season (.453), which is the same position they found themselves in a year ago.

And as we saw, it didn’t matter. Allen’s defense was beaten by backup quarterbacks like Joshua Dobbs and Desmond Ridder. Carr wilted in prime time matchups with the few playoff teams on their schedule, coming up short against the Houston Texans, Detroit Lions, and Los Angeles Rams...

With the NFL’s schedule release coming up this Wednesday, a frequent topic that has come up in recent weeks is what might the 2024 schedule look like for the New Orleans Saints? With the departure of former head coach Sean Payton and long-time quarterback Drew Brees, it seems like the Saints are no longer one of the more enticing teams to watch in the NFL. So, it is likely that we will see another season with minimal prime-time games once again. What the team does have though are some games that Saints fans, players and even coaches will definitely have circled on their calendars at the...

The New Orleans Saints will open their first two preseason games against the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers, per Jeff Duncan.

The Saints will be hosting their training camp at the University of California- Irvine due to ongoing renovations at their facility, so it makes sense for them to remain on the West Coast for the first two preseason games.

The Saints will first play against the Cardinals for their preseason Week 1 match then return to California to take on the 49ers along with joint practices.

We still don’t know what the New Orleans Saints’ regular season schedule will look like, but their plans for the preseason are beginning to take shape. Nola.com’s Jeff Duncan reports that the Saints are planning to share the field for joint practices with the San Francisco 49ers before an upcoming preseason game.

It makes a lot of sense. The Saints will be moving their 2024 training camp to California this year amid large-scale renovations to the team’s Metairie practice facility, so they won’t have to travel far from their operations at UC-Irvine’s campus. Duncan’s report says the Saints...
