I'm still baffled that so many people seem to have hitched their wagon to a guy who got caught using PEDs. As a rookie. With no discernible reason to use them. It’s truly bizarre that it seems some people have already determined that they will be rooting against him in order to prove the hype wrong and to be able to say “I told you so.”
He's a steal. He's got negatives, no doubt, but the situation, injuries, scheme, play-calling, and lack of talent absolutely tanked his ability to display top 50 talent.
The negatives
- Drifts backwards in the pocket
- can be late on throws/Needs a #1 WR
- decision making
- throw location can be spotty
- Goal line arm??
Wow , my point is that is exactly the same thing scouts were saying about Haener before the draft. ChillThat’s fine and all but as far as I can tell, this isn’t a discussion about Haener, so I don’t believe I see your point.

1st I'm curious to see if EJW had done an in-depth on Haener because his is one of the opinions I value. 2nd the knock on Rattler is he makes bad decisions and trusts his arm too much and has had a history of being immature. There's usually a reason a guy with that arm talent falls in the draft. Why are you so hellbent on making it a Haener vs Rattler . I'm notI'm curious...what is your reason for asking this? It's a bit, um, "odd."
Also, care to respond in the other thread about why you feel like Rattler doesn't "Have it between the ears" even though the general consensus from scouts and publications is that he has a high football I.Q. (and also had a 3.8 gpa)?
Really wondering on why you're so hellbent on attacking Rattler and infusing this Haener defense into these discussions.
Schefter: Falcons and Broncos liked Rattler most before picking QBs early. Teams expected him to go mid-2nd-early 3rd
Not to jinx, but watching some of his highlights, he reminds me of Brees to an extentI wish Drew would work with him and show him the waysaintsreport.com

RattlerCrazy, but honest question: other than Archie Manning, who is the best QB the Saints have ever drafted?
Not to mention there’s been no evidence at all that it’s even semi likely for him to turn into a legitimate starter in the league. Keep drafting them till we strike gold hahaI'm still baffled that so many people seem to have hitched their wagon to a guy who got caught using PEDs. As a rookie. Older fans will remember Dave Wilson was a product of the old supplemental draft, which isn’t done anymore. He was fairly big guy out of Illinois, about 6-3, and had a strong arm. He once held the NCAA record for most passing yards in a game.Crazy, but honest question: other than Archie Manning, who is the best QB the Saints have ever drafted?

Drafted during Bum’s first season in 1981, he was never properly coached-up and never truly given the keys to the offense. Split time with Archie in ‘81, then broke his leg in the preseason the following year. Then Bum brought in Stabler and Wilson played only when Stabler couldn’t go due to injury. Then came Todd, and then Hebert. His best moment came in the second half of a road win over the Bengals during the breakthrough season of 1987. Led what I think was the biggest comeback win in team history up to then.
Every other starter — both the good and the bad — since those days came via trades or free agency.

I mean, it’s true, but man is that rough. He was good, not great, and not even while on our team.Marc Bulger
