Offensive Coordinator Klint Kubiak brings fresh perspective to the New Orleans Saints

METAIRIE, La. (BRPROUD) – Saints rookie minicamp not only provides a first look at the fresh faces in black and gold but also a glimpse into the offensive system under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

The former 49ers passing game coordinator was hired in February after the team parted ways with longtime offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael. Kubiak was brought in to help breathe fresh life into a Saints offense that struggled this past season.

“We’re a West Coast offense for whatever that means for everybody,” Kubiak said. “We’re going to be is probably as wordy as the quarterback can handle. And I think our quarterback is a very, very smart player who can handle a lot.” ...

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints have signed offensive lineman Lucas Patrick and defensive tackle Kendal Vickers to one-year contracts.

The roster moves were announced Monday by Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, who also said the club has waived nose tackle John Penisini.

The 6-foot-3, 313-pound Patrick is a seven-year NFL veteran who spent the past two seasons with Chicago.

He began his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Duke in 2016 and has appeared in 96 regular-season games with 54 starts at guard and center for Green Bay and Chicago. He...

Saints announce multiple roster moves

The New Orleans Saints have announced multiple roster moves with the official signings of interior offensive lineman Lucas Patrick and defensive tackle Kendal Vickers. They have also waived rookie tackle John Penisini.

Vickers, 28, went undrafted in 2018 before signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Saints are Vickers' seventh team since being drafted including a brief stint with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League.

Vickers has appeared in 27 games during his NFL career earning two sacks and three tackles for loss.

The New Orleans Saints signed one of the free agent tryouts from their recent rookie minicamp, former Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Kendal Vickers. Backup defensive tackle John Penisini was waived to open a roster spot for him. The Saints announced Vickers’ signing as well as the pickup of offensive lineman Lucas Patrick on Monday.

METAIRIE, La. — The New Orleans Saints announced their 2024 NFL schedule will be released this week.

The Saints' opponents were set in January.

This season, the team's schedule will feature nine home games and eight road games. Six of those combined games are home-and-away games with NFC South rivals, Atlanta, Carolina and Tampa Bay.

There aren’t many better examples of the New Orleans Saints’ decline than Alvin Kamara’s fall-off in recent years. A combination of factors — poor blocking, uninspired play calling, spotty quarterback play and the natural wear and tear of playing 100 games — have hurt him.
