Initial Free Agency and Draft are over, so who starts on the Left Side on the Oline? (1 Viewer)

We actually do not know that any position is set in stone until after some training camp is completed. With a new offensive coaching staff I would think they would see it in their best interest to start with a clean slate and find what works best for them. Yes we have proven vets but a new staff may feel it’s time for a shake up and see what works out.

Agreed, now is the time for a FULL line re-evaluation. The Saints are trying to plug and play into an established offense. Everyone is learning it right now. I'm not opposed to the staff playing Ruiz at his strongest position. With so much of the line changing anyway and EVERYONE having to learn a new offense, sticking to the old designations doesn't make too much sense. I don't see the harm in allowing Ruiz to tryout at center and McCoy manning one of the guard positions. If Ruiz picks up the offense faster than McCoy at center, he should be there. McCoy would surely beat out any competition at one of the guard spots. Saldiveri and Evans fighting over the other guard positions and there's about 5 bodies competing for left and right tackle.

If Ram does not retire and decide to play, it will be Fuaga. If Ram retires, they will give Penning every opportunity to win it. If he can't win it... I have no idea. Find a player in free agency?

I fully expect Ramczyk to spend the entire season on IR. If he retires this season because Loomis kicked the can down the road he creates a buttload of dead money ($23 million if he retires this year). The following season he can retire without killing the team’s salary cap. Cheaper to pay him on IR.

As far as the left side of the OL goes - Peat is still out there. I wouldn’t be shocked if Loomis is letting Peat shop himself around to establish his market value. There may be a handshake deal that the Saints will match if it’s reasonable. The Saints OL could be -
LT Peat, LG Udoh, C McCoy, RG Ruiz, RT Fuaga.

This please, we've seen the OL lineups that the last regime cooked up and it wasn't enough, in fact it was terrible. Fresh eyes, new coaches, new scheme...should result in some sort of shakeup. Penciling in guys doesn't make sense. If Fuaga gives you best blind side...do it. If you can shift McCoy to RG or LG so that Cesar Ruiz can play Center...do it. If it means Penning plays at RT instead of Left where you had him penciled in...do it. Whatever is best for the team, and guys should also be willing to move around.

They gave Peat's # to Fuaga. He gone lol.

As another has stated, it's Penning's job to lose at LT and Saldiveri at LG.

Peat is not coming back.
