Heading toward the bulk of the New Orleans Saints' offseason work, a major question remains: Who will be the starter at left guard in the 2024 season?

The hole became even more glaring with the retirement of veteran James Hurst, who started 13 games at the position a year ago. As Mike Detillier explained on SportsTalk this week, the signing of veteran Lucas Patrick following rookie minicamp resets that part of depth chart, and he's on top

The hole became even more glaring with the retirement of veteran James Hurst, who started 13 games at the position a year ago. As Mike Detillier explained on SportsTalk this week, the signing of veteran Lucas Patrick following rookie minicamp resets that part of depth chart, and he's on top.

"They didn’t bring him in to watch," Detillier told WWL's Charlie Long. "He’s here to start." ...

The New Orleans Saints will host the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. With the 2024 NFL schedule release dropping on May 15, we have already begun to see some of the more notable games announced. The Christmas games have been sent out, as well as the international schedule of games. However, most of the primary schedules have not come out as of yet and will be fully released on NFL Network at 7 p.m. CT.

The New Orleans Saints have had trouble with the Philadelphia Eagles in the past, winning 16 matchups and losing...

It’s finally NFL schedule release day. We’ve long known who the New Orleans Saints will be playing in 2024, and which teams will be hosting or traveling for every matchup. What we’re now learning is when each of these games will take place. Before we know it, the Caesars Superdome will be rocking and rolling.

The NFL won’t announce schedules for every team until 7 p.m. CT, so don’t plan your trip just yet. We’ll have the official announcement soon enough. But be sure to check this space often to keep up with the latest New Orleans Saints schedule rumors:

Report: Saints to kick off 2024 season at home vs. Panthers

There it is. The New Orleans will kick off their 2024 season at home against the Carolina Panthers, per FOX 8’s Garland Gillen, giving head coach Dennis Allen a great opportunity to start 1-0 for his third consecutive season. Hopefully the pattern stops there, though, with the Saints missing the playoffs in each of his first two years as their head coach.

Carolina fielded the worst team in pro football last offseason, and they’ve worked hard to surround young quarterback Bryce Young with a stronger supporting cast. There’s a new coaching staff, new receivers, new blockers, and plenty of...

The two most likely options for the Saints season opener

With the NFL schedule release around the corner, I wanted to look at the most likely opponents the New Orleans Saints could face. The obvious choice would be an NFC South rival, which is boring. Two other teams have a good chance of being picked to be the opening game against the Saints: the Denver Broncos and the Las Vegas Raiders.

It makes sense if the NFL chooses the Saints to open against the Broncos. This would be the first time Sean Payton coaches against the Saints, and it would be in New Orleans. There would be less of a chance if the game were in Denver, but Payton returning to...

Saints were reportedly interested in Marquez Valdes-Scantling prior to him signing with Buffalo

The New Orleans Saints are still currently looking into the wide receiver market, per report.

Former Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling reportedly fielded interest from the team before coming to an agreement with the Buffalo Bills. Both the Saints and Valdes-Scantling had interest in uniting in 2022 before the Kansas City Chiefs added a third year to up the Saints two-year offer.

With the market paper thin at this time of the year, there aren’t many additions the team can make that could move the needle for them. However, one name that many will point to as being an option is...

Saints Reacts Survey: Where do you think the Saints will finish in the division?

The New Orleans Saints 2024 schedule will be released in just a few more hours and with that also comes the release of strength of schedule, early odds and power rankings. Yesterday, the NFL posted their strength of schedule rankings for this season, which finds the Saints tied with the Falcons with the easiest schedule for the 2nd year in a row. After finishing the 2023 season in 2nd place in the NFC South with a 9-8 record, the Saints hope to improve on not only their record but also, win the division and return to the playoffs this year for the first time since the 2020 season. But as...

Saints say logistics, not NFL rules, are a hurdle for inviting fans to training camp

The New Orleans Saints didn’t make a popular decision in moving their 2024 training camp to California, with operations traveling from Metairie to Irvine for weeks of practices this summer. And a report that NFL rules may prohibit the team from inviting fans to camp wasn’t welcomed warmly.

But Saints team president Dennis Lauscha explained that onsite logistics, not NFL marketing rules, are a bigger hurdle for the team. He believes that finding room for fans at UC-Irvine’s campus is going to be challenging.

“I think that (rule) may pertain more to sponsorship,” Lauscha said during a...

Dennis Allen comments on rookie first-round pick Taliese Fuaga playing left tackle

One of the surprise developments coming out of New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp last weekend was the news about where Taliese Fuaga was playing. The former Oregon State starter performed so well at right tackle that the Saints picked him at No. 14 overall in this year’s NFL draft, but when he took the practice field for the first time in black and gold he was lining up at left tackle. Fuaga was seen as an easy replacement for Ryan Ramczyk on the right side, while the veteran Pro Bowler is dealing with a career-threatening knee injury, but his first action came on the other end of the...

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints are heading to Irvine, Calif., for training camp this year, as their Metairie facility gets a well-needed facelift.

It now looks like the Saints won't have to leave the West Coast for that roughly four-week period.

New Orleans' first two preseason games are expected to be in Arizona and San Francisco, according to Jeff Duncan of Nola.com.

The Saints would travel to the Cardinals in the second week of August. Then host the 49ers at the University of California in Irvine for joint practices, before playing in San Francisco in the third week of August...

Possible candidates for the Saints season opener at home

The New Orleans Saints kicked off the 2023 season with a defensive slugfest, edging out the Tennessee Titans 16-15 at the Caesars Superdome. In a game dominated by field goals, it was the Saints’ defense and rookie kicker Blake Grupe who emerged as the heroes.

The 2024 NFL season hold the same type of excitement that culminates in New Orleans with Super Bowl LIX, and the Saints will be eager to kick things off in style to start a strong march for the big game. The 2023 season left the Saints with a bittersweet taste. A 9-8 record wasn’t a disaster, but it wasn’t enough to reach the...

Report: Saints were in the mix for former Chiefs WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling

It doesn’t look like the New Orleans saints are finished adding wide receivers. They were in the mix for ex-Kansas City Chiefs wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling before he signed with the Buffalo Bills, per Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, which makes sense.

The Saints were outbid for Valdes-Scantling by the Chiefs just two years ago, and he was someone we suggested as a fit for New Orleans once Kansas City let him go as a salary cap casualty earlier this offseason. The team agreed, but you can’t fault the player for wanting to go to a better situation. Josh Allen is a much better...
