Win it for my Uncle EJ who I first saw on a couch in the the back room of his house one Sunday with the TV on one game while the Saints played in his earphone before I was old enough to understand what a blackout was.
Win it form my Aunt Ginger who I thought was nuts when she started clapping while driving us kids up to Loranger on HWY 51
Win it for my Grandmother who took me to my first game in Tulane Stadium...I don't even know who we were playing, but I did get an explanation of what "We want Hargett meant" Ed Hargett was Billy Kilmer's back-up for those of you too young to remember. Personally, I still don't know how I know that.
For my Dad, who took me to New Orleans to see Buddy D's radio show from Morten Anderson's...with Bobby Hebert as the guest. It was the week the Saints played the Reggie White Iggles in the playoffs.
For my little brother who got us tickets to that same game...how we cheered for when the 4th quarter started...
For my other brother who was with me watching Mike Lansford beat us out of our first playoff opportunity...I was at his house when a Doug Brian miss for the Jets let the Rams squeek us out of the playoffs.
Win it for a Saints Fan that doesn't know dates, but knows the people who share the history...
WIn it for yourselves...because the NFL isn't college...the margins are too close to count on being this good or this close ever again. WIn it to seal your legacy in the most competitive league in the world. Carpe Diem Saints!!!!!!!!!!!!!

win it for my pappy. hes 75 years old and rebuilding his house in chalmette, solo. ive helped him gut it, and put up some insulation, but aside from that, he refuses to pay a 'professional" to do work that he thinks he can do with more care and attention to detail (hes right too). i brought him to the first eagles game with me, and that was the first time hes ever been to the dome for a saints game. he went to tulane stadium a few times, but to see the look of total awe on his face in our "outdated" dome, was priceless.

Amen brother, AMEN! Win it for long suffering fans everywhere, especially in DA PARISH!

Almost as much as winning a Super Bowl I want consistency. Consistency in coaching and as a team/organization. For instance I look at the Pittsburgh Steelers and how Bill Cowher had been there coach forever, Mike Shanahan at Denver. That's what I want. I'm tired of having one or two good years and then in three or four years having to start all over and rebuild again.
Another is respectability around the country as a winner and a contender. Much like we had the respect during the Dome Patrol days. Our defense was feared and people knew that we weren't to be messed with. Now it looks like we have a great young offense and defense with all of the right pieces in place to make this happen.

Sadly I wish my grandfather was alive(died last August), he loved the Saints/Tulane and was a lifelong New Orleanian(7th Ward). I still remember him being so disappointed back in 87 when the Vikings whipped us. At least he got to see that first playoff game in 2000.

Win it because for the first time in 40 years you have a group of guys who realize, that there is no "I" in team.
Win it for my dad and uncle who lived and breathed the Saints, and I know they are watching over them.
Win it for the fans who have stood by for 40 years, waiting knowing this day would come someday.
Win it for the younger generation of fans who have a very different team than we had. They are waiting, and know that day is soon to arrive.

Win it for all the New Orleans expats overseas.
Win it for me and those other Saints fans in Japan that will be waking up before 5:00 AM on Monday morning and then taking the rest of the morning off to catch the NFC Championship.
Win it for those Louisianians watching in Iraq and Afghanistan, and you know they will be watching.
Win it for everyone watching the game in a FEMA trailer.
Win it for my old college roommate William, who is living in a FEMA trailer.
Win it for all the other jazz musicians who lost their instruments in Katrina and had to scrape the money together to replace them but have still kept the faith.
Win it for the long-suffering Saints fans, those people who remember watching the Saints blow a fourth-quarter lead to the Eagles in the playoffs back in the early 1990s.
Win it for the Dome Patrol. If only we had those guys now . . .
Win it for Tom Benson so that that old coot will finally realize how much this team means to the city and will finally give up forever on moving it away.
Win it for all the Saints fans who have shuffled off this mortal coil without getting to see this fantastic team.
Win it for Drew Brees, who has shown class and courage in coming back from shoulder surgery and has actively jumped into the recovery effort.
Win it for Reggie Bush, who got up from that hit last week and showed that he's a real man.
Win it for the Houston Texans, whom we owe big for passing up Reggie.
Win it for Deuce. 'Nuff said.
Win it for the Coach of the Year.
Win it for the people who lost everything and have got nowhere to go but up.
Win it so that we can be in the Super Bowl. Two more weeks of joy, and then a chance to win it all. Win or lose, even just being there in this of all years would bring tears to my eyes.
Win it for my homeboy Lee, who is going to fly back to NOLA from NYC to watch the Super Bowl and tear sh*t up in the Quarter.
Win the whole thing for the whole city and let the biggest party ever commence!

Win it for my mom, the world's biggest Kilmer fan, who taught her two daughters (my older sister and I) to yell back "NO WE DON'T!!" to those yelling "we want Hargett!" as we sat in Tulane Stadium. Win it for my mom, who was expecting my younger sister in December 1971 and swore she would have that baby at Tulane Stadium, and would have it announced during the game that Billy Kilmer had returned....she swore that if the baby was a boy he would be named William Kilmer....

Win it for...
Win it for those who are too young to know that the Saints have been the laughing stock of the NFL for so long. Win it for kids, about 6 years and younger. Win it for the unborn.
They will simply think to themselves, "This must happen every year..."
They should have to go through what we have endured.

Win it for the ten year old that watched as Tom Dempsey, with half a foot, overcame all of the odds in his life and the odds of reality as he kicked a 63 yard field goal to beat Detroit.
Win it for the eleven year old that screamed and jumped as his favorite player in the world, Archie Who, ran for a touchdown as time expired to beat the hated Rams in his first game as a Saint.
Win it for the twelve year old who thought Archie and Danny Abramowicz would finally take this team to the promised land.
Win it for the sixteen year old who cried when Hank Stram became the head coach, because that sixteen year old knew beyond all doubt that his Saints would finally become the winners he always believed they could be.
Win it for the seventeen year old who took the jeers of all of his classmates as he continued to cheer for "Thunder and Lightning" despite a futile record.
Win it for the eighteen year old who finally saw his hero get the recognition he deserved, as Archie won NFC MVP honors, despite playing for a losing team.
Win it for the nineteen year old, for whom Archie signed a football to be auctioned off in a benefit to raise money to care for the nineteen year old's dying grandmother.
Win it for the twenty year old, who refused to wear a bag and held his head high as he fervently believed in his team.
Win it for the twenty-one year old, who had Faith, Hope and Bum.
Win it for the twenty-two year old, who cried as his favorite player was sent away by the coach he had given his heart and soul to just last year.
Win it for the newlywed twenty-three year old, who had a beautiful new wife that didn't understand his fascination with the Saints, but stood by him as he cheered each game.
Win it for the twenty-five year old, who still believed, and even more so now that the Saints had a new owner who cared.
Win it for the twenty-six year old, who traveled from Biloxi faithfully to see every game because he knew the Saints would finally be winners with Mora and the Dome Patrol.
Win it for the twenty-seven year old, who screamed outside the 'dome as his team made it to the playoffs for the very first time.... only to lose the game in a 44-10 blowout to the Vikings.
Win it for the thirty year old, who lost his grandfather; the man who introduced him to the Saints by taking him to New Orleans in the beginning.
Win it for the thirty-three year old, who took his 4 year old daughter to the 'dome to see her very first Saints game, a playoff game they would lose to the Eagles after leading 20-7 late in the game.
Win it for the thirty-five year old, who lost his season tickets when his Dad decided it had become too expensive to pay for them.
Win it for the thirty-seven year old, who scraped up the funds on his low salary to get season tickets again for the first time in three years, after the hiring of the legend, Mike Ditka, knowing that it was finally next year.
Win it for the thirty-nine year old, who just knew that finally, with the drafting of the greatest running back of all times, the Saints would be winners, because Ricky Williams would take us to the promised land.
Win it for the forty year old, who saw the Saints return to the playoffs under the leadership of a coach that finally was tough and disciplined enough to turn it around again, and took the team back to the playoffs for their first ever win, when "Hakim dropped the ball!", only to lose the next week.
Win it for the forty-two year old, who cheered as Deuce ran downfield, sans helmet, amassing nearly 1400 yards in a season filled with hope, only to fall short again.
Win it for the forty-five year old, who saw his hometown of Biloxi destroyed again, along with New Orleans, by yet another hurricane, and watched his Saints live a vagabond existence, not knowing if he would ever see them at home again.
Win it for the forty-six year old. Win it for the forty-six year old that has been there all 39 years. Win it for the forty-six year old that has laughed and cried and cheered and wept. Win it for the forty-six year old that always believed, even when everything looked bleak.
Win it for me, Saints, win it for me..........
No, that's not fair. I am only one man. One of tens of thousands who have been there; thick and thin; win or lose. I am only one of tens of thousands who have always believed, always cheered, always dreamed, only to be disappointed time and time again. Win it for all of us, Saints; next year is here. The Black and Gold has arrived. It is time to March home to the Promised Land.
