Delphine LaLaurie

Delphine LaLaurie, also known as Madame LaLaurie (born Marie Delphine Macarty), was an American socialite and supposed serial killer, who according to legend helped torture, mutilate and kill nearly 100 black slaves.

i just come across her story
very interesting that they couldn't prove she did all the really bad things rumored that she was doin

allegations regarding buckets of genitalia, makeshift sex-change operations, brains stirred with sticks, women nailed to floors by their intestines, tongues sewn together, mouths stuffed with excrement and stitched up, females flayed to resemble caterpillars, suits of human skin, sliced penises, "human crabs", bottles of blood or "grand gore chambers"

how did all those rumors get started if there is no truth
why isn't she discussed more on tv or in books?
have you ever heard of her?
is her house haunted?

what is also weird is that there are so many tales about how she died.

Several different accounts of the death of Delphine LaLaurie are given. One report said she was killed by a wild boar in a hunting accident in France. Another story, as reported in The Daily Picayune of March 1892, insisted she died among friends and family in Paris. Other accounts say that Delphine LaLaurie never left Louisiana and dwelled on the Northshore of Lake Ponchartrain for the remainder of her days.
LaLaurie was believed to have died on December 7, 1842, and her body secretly returned to New Orleans. In the early 1900s, Eugene Backes, who served as sexton to St. Louis Cemetery #1 until 1924, discovered an old cracked, copper plate in Alley 4 of the cemetery. The inscription on the plate read: "Madame LaLaurie, née Marie Delphine Macarty, décédée à Paris, le 7 Décembre, 1842, à l'âge de 68 ans."

Damn! That ranks right up there with Dracula. I can't believe Anne Rice has not stumbled on this. And yes I understand that the woman was disgusting and not pretending to be a vampire. I'd imagine this would make one hell of a gore movie.

It was part of the wax museum tour, the one in the quarter. It was her and her husband as he probably did all the knife work, he was a doctor. It's all true, the cops or firemen actually found a room where this all people were mutilated. They were responding 2 a fire set by 2 of her slaves chained in the kitchen to the stove. She was having a party at the time and when the guests found out what was going on they were angry. Her and her husband fled during all the commotion.
It was considered the most haunted house in new orleans. which is why it was part of the wax museum tour.

Mostly all fake. The only person she supposedly killed is the little girl. The information about her torturing and killing 100 people is fake. The lady who owns the haunted tour place wrote a book and put this fake information in the book. There have been no other sources of this info though. FYI, the house is the one Nic Cage owned.

edit
maybe you work for the ghost tour?? lol

if you used wiki for all that other stuff you could just put her name in and you would see that it was fake.

"Most accounts relating to the discovery of grand guignol horror in the Lalaurie mansion cannot be traced back further than Journey Into Darkness: Ghosts and Vampires of New Orleans, a book self-published in 1998 by the proprietress of a New Orleans ghost tour business. The author, Kalila Katherina Smith — whose qualifications include her work as a practitioner of eclectic magic and a certificate in Oriental Natural Healing and Integrated Body Mind Therapy — claims to have sourced her information from a contemporary newspaper, the New Orleans Bee.[2] A review of the files of this newspaper shows this claim to be false."

Well, she and her husband did move to France after living in New Orleans. And the husband then proceeded to write the first book ever on vivisection. Or so I heard.

This is one of the Quarter's oldest ghost legends, right up there the Slaughter at the Sultan's Place on Iberville Street.

For me, the best part of the story is when the ghosts throw a ball in celebration of Mme. Laulaurie leaving town in disgrace. It was said that this ball continued each year on the anniversary of the event. The folks at the Bottom of the Cup Tea Room (when it was on Royal) had the inside scoop (and the haunted bathroom).

Supposedly, this is also false. Workers at one of the St. Louis Cemetaries, #1, I think, found a marker that said Delphine LaLaurie.

There is some historical reference to what happened, as archived copies of the newspaper says:

Quote:
upon entering one of the apartments the most appalling spectacle met their eyes. Seven slaves more or less horribly mutilated were seen suspended by the neck with their limbs apparently stretched and torn from one extremity to the other. Language is powerless and inadequate to give a proper conception of the horror which a scene like this must have inspired. We shall not attempt it, but rather leave it to the reader's imagination to picture what it was

Am writing a screenplay based on her story. From my research thereis truth in what happened based on newspaper reports and recorded eye witness reports.
