He ran a 4.46 and 4.41 40. That is blazing for a TE on any surface. He'll go in the 5th-7th rounds. Hasn't had much production according to the article.

Is he a TE or FB? A little on the light side.

On most draft sites he's listed as a FB/H Back. At 6' 4", 230ish he's NFL pass receiving TE sized. But with Heath Evans age and coming off an injury I could see them drafting a backup FB. If he doesn't make the roster he might have career as the next Fabio -

What's Wrong with the Vikes? They Should Grab McNabb???
I don't have insider info, but pretty sure Favre is coming back. As Bionic as he is, Favre is in his 40's. He's more likely to have an injury plagued 2010 season like the 2008 season than last year.
McNabb is an elite QB who knows the Vikes system and is only 33. The Vikes could likely get 3-5 top years from McNabb. And it's more likely that Sage or Tavaris will be the Vikes QB by the end of next year. For a pick in the low 40s, it seems like the Vikes should package a few draft choices and grab McNabb. The thought of McNabb with the Vikes for the next 4 years is much more unsettling to me than a 42 yr. old Favre.
You think the Vikes are making the right decision or is this nuts?

He played 3 years at linebacker and was supposedly the best one on the team. It wasn't the best position for him, but when he got there it was a position of need, and he stepped up and did a good job. The coach now says he wishes he would have had him at tight end a year before because he could have done so much more. They had a young quarterback who was learning the system, they threw mostly bubble screens and used Konz as a blocker.
Edit: Heres some more stuf I found from a Kent St fan
"He played out of position as an undersized LB (about 210 lbs) coming out of high school because according to the head coach Doug Martin at Kent State, the team "had a need at that position" and Konz was the best option they had.
It wasn't until his senior year that Kent State moved him to offense (TE), and then he injured his ankle (torn ligaments) in the 1st quarter of the first game against Boston College in 2008. He got a medical redshirt and came back for a 5th year, but then they moved him again from TE to WR/H-back.
So by the time he played in his final year in college, he had played 3 different positions in 3 years (LB, TE, WR/H-back). Then the starting QB who he had been practicing with during spring drills (Giorgio Morgan) got injured early in the 2009 season, so Kent State was forced to start a true freshman QB (Spencer Keith), who actually played decent for being thrust into a starting role."
and he had a 46 inch vertical which would put him higher than anyone at the combine this year and I think top 10 since they have been recording. Some had him timed as low as 4.38.
I am glad the Saints are going to see what he is capable of.

Cleveland Browns are only team to witness Kent's Jameson Konz put up "freakish" numbers
By Tony Grossi
March 11, 2010, 1:58PM
Jameson Konz, a native of Uniontown, Ohio, played three seasons at linebacker before moving to offense. While he hasn't received much publicity, NFL scouts have taken notice of his size, speed and versatility.
CLEVELAND -- Kent State linebacker/fullback Jameson Konz put on an impressive display in his personal workout this morning at the school's lonely pro day.
Because Kent's pro day conflicted with those of major schools with multiple prospects, such as Nebraska, Idaho, Oregon and Boston College, attendance at Kent was scarce. In fact, the Browns were the only NFL team to send a scout.
What he saw was Konz put on an athletic display described as "freakish."
Konz measured 6-3 and 234 pounds. He was timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.46 seconds. Asked to run a second one, he timed 4.38.
Konz also posted a 46-inch vertical jump and a broad jump of 10 feet, 8 1/4 inches.
Konz is considered a prospect to play tight end, H-back or fullback in the NFL. His numbers better the top figures posted by any tight end or fullback at the NFL Scouting Combine. The closest numbers to Konz's were put up by tight end Dorin Dickerson of Pittsburgh, who ran 4.40 in the 40, jumped 43.5 inches in the vertical and had a broad jump of 10 feet, 5 inches. Dickerson is projected to be taken in the third or fourth round.
When the results are circulated, Konz is expected to receive invitations to visit NFL teams for closer inspection. This is what happened to Kent quarterback Julian Edelman last year, who eventually was drafted by New England in the seventh round and became a valuable receiver/special teamer as a rookie.
I got this from dawgtalkers.com message board. I wonder if Cribbs had/has any influence

Looks like a winner to me. I'm sure Payton and staff will look closely at him.
