The thread is based on QB2 and since emergency QB is mentioned I have to assume you are talking Game Day QB. If so then we only ever dress out two QB’s and Taysom Hill. Not once last year did they use an emergency QB designation.
So we are only talking about QB 2 for one game. Carr is one tough Hombre and has only missed limited time so if he goes down I see a possibility of using him as number 2. We did not do that last year because of JW and no one other than Carr was close to JW last year. We have no JW’s this year. Currently Taysome is our second best QB.

Another thing to keep in mind is that we only have 3 preseason games instead of 4.

Under DA, they've allowed QB1 to only play 1 series for the whole preseason. Is that trend going to continue? If not, then it's going to be difficult to get a look at 4 QBs.

A Brees, Mahomes, or Rogers caliber QB will never have a completely terrible OL. They lead, teach, and use footwork to help their OL improve. The greats usually have low sacks because they work with their OL instead of yelling and blaming them. Sure, a good OL can make a good QB better, but a good QB can also make their OL better.

Rattler had legit one of the worst Olines in the nation. That is a fact and there’s a difference between underperforming and straight up bad.

They were:

118th(only 12 worse!) in sacks
121st (9 worse) in sacks per game with only 5 P5 teams worse

In terms on running the ball?

129th with 85 yards a game….85! Only Colorado and Washington State were worse!

They were tied for 117th in penalties per game.

They were absolutely dreadful by any statistical measure and while rattler has flaws he had next to zero to work with in either running the ball or the offensive line that I’ve outlined above.
 
I’ll tell you who #2 and #3 will be right after training camp is done.
Hopefully Camp California brings out the best in both of them.

Now that you bring that up, Haener being on his home turf should give him a leg up, if that counts for anything.

Everyone just needs to use the time away from Metairie to gel as a team. The competition should bring out the best in every camp body, whether free agent, rookie, or veteran.
